Mapping Orang Asli Villages in Selangor

Join us to enable community impact

We are on a mission to empower communities in Selangor! In July, Epic Lead Pathfinders began basic mapping and conversations with village leaders to activate their local resources to develop their own communities. We have received their support to take the next step: Community Mapping.

This is our first set of villages for community mapping visits to further understand the community. 

We are looking for individuals to join us as volunteer Pathfinders, to interview community members and collect information that will enable the sharing of community stories in a dignified and accurate manner to invite collaborators to partner alongside these communities to enable positive impact.

Who are Pathfinders?

Pathfinders assist the Lead Pathfinders to engage with communities. They use conversational skills to gather accurate information and data, which can then be used to tell compelling stories that inspire change.

Pathfinders must be able to speak Malay at a basic conversational level. 

Training: The Pathfinder Workshop

Interested but don't know what to expect or don't have the skillset to do so? Don't worry! We provide the training to equip you with the necessary skills to do so! (This training is compulsory for all).

The Villages

1. Kampung Orang Asli Sungai Buloh [COMPLETED)

A beautiful village nestled in the foothills of the mountains of Hutan Lipur Bukit Lagong, 15 minutes from the town of Sg Buloh. The villagers have settled in the location for over 50 years. Their aspirations for their village include improving the lives of the villagers in terms of infrastructure, education and childhood play. There are over 50 families living in the village.

Location: Kampung Orang Asli Sungai Buloh

2. Kampung Orang Asli Hulu Kuang (COMPLETED)

Another beautiful village nestled in the foothills of the mountains of Hutan Lipur Bukit Lagong, 15 minutes from the town of Rawang and nearby a quarry. They have settled in the area since the 1940s. Their aspirations include improving the lives of the villagers in terms of infrastructure and opportunities to connect. There are over 200 families living in the village.

3 Kampung Orang Asli Changkat Bintang (COMPLETED)
