Mission Description

Mapping Kampung Orang Asli Kuala Panson & Kampung Orang Asli Genting Peras

Join us to enable community impact

We are on a mission to empower communities in Perak! In April, Epic Lead Pathfinders began basic mapping and conversations with village leaders to activate their local resources to develop their own communities. We have received their support to take the next step: Community Mapping.

We are looking for individuals to join us as volunteer Pathfinders, to interview community members and collect information that will enable the sharing of community stories in a dignified and accurate manner to invite collaborators to partner alongside these communities to enable positive impact.

If you have a passion for communities, enjoy having conversations or like to explore new places and meet new people, we're inviting you to join us as Pathfinders to map a cluster of villages n Simpang Pulai, Perak. Find out more about this village below!

About Kampung Orang Asli Kuala Panson & Kampung Orang Asli Genting Peras

Kampung Orang Asli Kuala Panson

Set beside the Langat River and surrounded by the greenery of Gunung Nuang Forest, Kampung Orang Asli Kuala Panson is a gazetted Temuan village full of life, tradition, and natural charm. With around 500 to 600 residents across 120 to 150 homes, the village is proud of its cultural roots, celebrating traditions such as the Sewang dance and Hari Moyang. Many still practise traditional crafts like basket weaving and making the sumpit, a bamboo blowpipe used for generations. Despite its vibrant community spirit, Kuala Panson faces pressing challenges. Many homes are overcrowded and basic needs such as electricity and clean water are limited. The villagers dream of having proper housing and toilets, and they are also keen to develop ecotourism and small local businesses with the right support. A visit here offers a meaningful experience and an opportunity to stand alongside a community that continues to preserve its heritage while striving for a brighter future.

Kampung Orang Asli Genting Peras

Located near Hulu Langat, Selangor, Kampung Orang Asli Genting Peras is a small, close-knit village with a history stretching back over three decades. Home to around 160 to 200 residents, the community holds strong to a mix of Islamic, Christian, and traditional beliefs, and continues to live in harmony with nature. Surrounded by rivers, bamboo groves, and forest life, many families farm the land and rely on natural resources in their daily lives. The village is rich in culture and togetherness, with a deep respect for their heritage. However, the community faces real challenges. Many families live in ageing wooden homes that are often overcrowded, and access to proper toilets is still limited. Their hopes are heartfelt and grounded — to have safer, more comfortable homes and improved sanitation. Visiting Genting Peras offers the chance to connect with a humble and inspiring community that welcomes support on their path towards a better quality of life.
