Mapping Kampung Orang Asli Ulu Kampar - Gopeng, Perak - Missions - Sedunia

Mission Description

Mapping Kampung Orang Asli Ulu Kampar

Join us to enable community impact

We are on a mission to empower communities in Perak! In June 2025, Epic Lead Pathfinders began basic mapping and conversations with village leaders to activate their local resources to develop their communities. We have received their support to take the next step: Community Mapping.

We are looking for individuals to join us as volunteer Pathfinders, to interview community members and collect information that will enable the sharing of community stories in a dignified and accurate manner, and to invite collaborators to partner alongside these communities to enable positive impact.

If you have a passion for communities, enjoy having conversations or like to explore new places and meet new people, we're inviting you to join us as Pathfinders to map a village in Perak. Find out more about this village below!

About Kampung Orang Asli Ulu Kampar

Kampung Orang Asli Ulu Kampar is a Semai and Temiar village located within a forest reserve near Gopeng, Perak. Surrounded by rich forest resources like petai and durian, the village is known for its peaceful atmosphere and cool climate. There is a blend of religious beliefs present in the village. Cultural celebrations such as Christmas and New Year are observed, though some older traditions like the Paddy Festival are no longer practised.

Community matters are discussed openly, with decisions made through consensus. The villagers dream of safer, better-built homes and improved infrastructure, such as tarred roads and bridge repairs. They also hope for more frequent community initiatives and better access to services. Above all, they wish to preserve their identity while living in a safer, more connected, and dignified environment.

Mapping the Village:
We are looking for 18 Pathfinders to map this village.
Mapping date & time: 27th July 2025, 9:00am to 5:00pm
Location: Kampung Orang Asli Ulu Kampar

Who are Pathfinders?

Pathfinders assist the Lead Pathfinders to engage with communities. They use conversational skills to gather accurate information and data, which can then be used to tell compelling stories that inspire change.

Pathfinders must be able to speak Malay at a basic conversational level.

Training: The Pathfinder Workshop

Interested but don't know what to expect or don't have the skillset to do so? Don't worry! We provide the training to equip you with the necessary skills to do so! (This training is compulsory for all).

The Pathfinding mission will happen on the 27th July 2025, with the workshop being held on Thursday, 24th July 2025 online on Google Meets.
