Mapping Kampung Orang Asli Ulu Jelintoh - Gopeng, Perak - Missions - Sedunia

Mission Description

Mapping Kampung Orang Asli Ulu Jelintoh

Join us to enable community impact

We are on a mission to empower communities in Perak! In June 2025, Epic Lead Pathfinders began basic mapping and conversations with village leaders to activate their local resources to develop their communities. We have received their support to take the next step: Community Mapping.

We are looking for individuals to join us as volunteer Pathfinders, to interview community members and collect information that will enable the sharing of community stories in a dignified and accurate manner, and to invite collaborators to partner alongside these communities to enable positive impact.

If you have a passion for communities, enjoy having conversations or like to explore new places and meet new people, we're inviting you to join us as Pathfinders to map a village in Perak. Find out more about this village below!

About Kampung Orang Asli Ulu Kampar

Kampung Orang Asli Ulu Jelintoh is a serene Semai village in Gopeng, Perak, with a history spanning over three generations. Formerly known as Kampung Cheras, it is nestled within forested surroundings rich with natural resources like bamboo, rattan, and petai. The village comprises about 200 families, many of whom live in shared homes made from bamboo or brick. While traditional skills like weaving and herbal medicine are fading, the Sewang dance is still preserved as part of their cultural identity. The community is active, with high participation in village events and regular communal upkeep.

Their aspirations include building a cybercafé, improving road access, upgrading water pipelines, and setting up small business kiosks, especially for women. The community dreams of better facilities and connectivity

Mapping the Village:
We are looking for 20 Pathfinders to map this village.
Mapping date & time: 20th July 2025, 9:00am to 5:00pm
Location: Kampung Orang Asli Ulu Jelintoh

Who are Pathfinders?

Pathfinders assist the Lead Pathfinders to engage with communities. They use conversational skills to gather accurate information and data, which can then be used to tell compelling stories that inspire change.

Pathfinders must be able to speak Malay at a basic conversational level.

Training: The Pathfinder Workshop

Interested but don't know what to expect, or don't have the skillset to do so? Don't worry! We provide the training to equip you with the necessary skills to do so! (This training is compulsory for all).

The Pathfinding mission will happen on the 20th July 2025, with the workshop being held on [Day], [date] online on Google Meets.
