We are on a mission to empower communities in Pahang! In February, Epic Lead Pathfinders began basic mapping and conversations with village leaders to activate their local resources to develop their own communities. We have received their support to take the next step: Community Mapping.

We are looking for individuals to join us as volunteer Pathfinders to interview community members and collect information that will enable the sharing of community stories in a dignified and accurate manner to invite collaborators to partner alongside these communities to enable a positive impact.

About Kampung Orang Asli Sungai Miak

Kampung Orang Asli Sungai Miak is a Temuan village nestled in the hills of Bentong, Pahang, with roots dating back to 1945. Surrounded by natural treasures like rivers, forests, and nearby hot springs, it offers a unique blend of traditional wisdom and rural charm. The villagers continue to uphold cultural practices such as weaving and herbal medicine-making while celebrating nature-based festivals like the fruit season.

Community life is closely connected, with strong gotong-royong spirit and leadership that values all voices in decision-making. The village is vibrant with daily activities like fishing, football, and karaoke, and it maintains strong school attendance and high literacy rates among its youth. Looking ahead, the community aspires to develop sustainable farming and livestock projects and improve housing conditions. With guidance and support, they are eager to grow in ways that honor their roots while building a stronger foundation for future generations.

Mapping the Villages:
We are looking for 20 Pathfinders to map this village.
Mapping date & time: 18th May 2025, 9:00am to 5:00pm

Who are Pathfinders?


Pathfinders assist the Lead Pathfinders to engage with communities. They use conversational skills to gather accurate information and data, which can then be used to tell compelling stories that inspire change.

Pathfinders must be able to speak Malay at a basic conversational level.

Training: The Pathfinder Workshop

Interested but don't know what to expect or don't have the skillset to do so? Don't worry! We provide the training to equip you with the necessary skills to do so! (This training is compulsory for all).

The pathfinding mission will happen on the 18th May 2025, with the workshop being held on Thursday 15th May 2025 online on Google Meets.
