We are on a mission to empower communities in Selangor! In May 2025, Epic Lead Pathfinders began basic mapping and conversations with village leaders to activate their local resources to develop their own communities. We have received their support to take the next step: Community Mapping.

We are looking for individuals to join us as volunteer Pathfinders, to interview community members and collect information that will enable the sharing of community stories in a dignified and accurate manner, and to invite collaborators to partner alongside these communities to enable positive impact.

About Kampung Orang Asli Sungai Jang

Kampung Orang Asli Sungai Jang is a Temuan-majority village nestled in Hulu Selangor, with a history dating back to around 1975. Originally relocated after the communist insurgency, the villagers have built a close-knit community grounded in shared culture, mutual support and ancestral practices. They observe traditional celebrations like Hari Moyang, Hari Raya and Christmas, and continue age-old weaving techniques such as crafting baskets and coconut-leaf accessories.

Though they face challenges with land security, infrastructure and environmental pollution, the villagers dream of a better future. Their hopes include building more homes to ease overcrowding, improving access to clean water, stronger internet connectivity, and preserving their natural surroundings. Despite limited resources, the spirit of gotong-royong thrives, with monthly community cleanups and a willingness to support one another.

We are looking for 8 Pathfinders to map this village.

Who are Pathfinders?


Pathfinders assist the Lead Pathfinders to engage with communities. They use conversational skills to gather accurate information and data, which can then be used to tell compelling stories that inspire change.

Pathfinders must be able to speak Malay at a basic conversational level.

Training: The Pathfinder Workshop

Interested but don't know what to expect or don't have the skillset to do so? Don't worry! We provide the training to equip you with the necessary skills to do so! (This training is compulsory for all).

The pathfinding mission will happen on the 8th June 2025, with the workshop being held on Thursday 5th June 2025 online on Google Meets.
