Mission Description

Build toilets at Kg. Orang Asli Gurney on 23th to 24 July, 2022

WHAT'S THIS ABOUT?
EPIC has been working with Kg. Gurney community since 2018, building 32 homes over 5 years, building relationships between residents and builders so that they support each other and find new, creative ways to exchange skills and knowledge.

The residents have requested for assistance in helping them build 2 toilets. A villager will be your on-site leader, supported with Master Builder, Specialist and YOU!

THE VOLUNTEERS
This is a private organized build made possible by GE Engineering Services Malaysia Sdn. Bhd. This event is open to GE Engineering's builders only where an exciting weekend awaits them!

THE OUTCOME
We hope that throughout the build, volunteers will develop a deeper understanding of how the Orang Asli live and that volunteers put themselves in the shoes of the community. We're essentially building a closer relationship with the Orang Asli community whilst also strengthening the relationships and dynamics of your team!

THE ATTITUDE
Be open to new things as different communities tend to work differently. Who knows? You could even learn a thing or two!
Approach and talk to the family! Strike up a conversation and leave a positive and lasting impression. They are usually shy, especially the women, and they may be a little hesitant to approach you in such a big group.

Mission Impact

We will be building toilets and bathrooms with the residents of Batang Kali. You will be facilitating the local leads in this project. The approximate number of toilets are 2 per weekend, but this number varies according to family availability on the day itself.
