"The more that you read, the more things you will know. The more that you learn, the more places you’ll go." —Dr. Seuss
Help a child to go places by volunteering your time to read with them on Saturdays.
MYReaders is a non-profit social enterprise that aims to help all children learn to read, regardless of their socio-economic background. Join us to help realise this dream!
What is this project?
The Kerinchi Literacy Hub programme is a social initiative in collaboration with the Lembah Pantai Member of Parliament's office. We'll be working with 75 children to help build confidence in their reading skills and instill a love of learning in them!
Who are the children involved?
The children come from the community around the Kerinchi PPR flats, many from less privileged backgrounds, and are just waiting for you to come read with them!
What do I need to do?
Join us on Saturdays on either slot 1: 9.30AM - 11AM or slot 2: 11.30AM - 1PM. We will be at the community centre on your left, once you see the stairs of Block F.
You'll be reading with the children using structured and effective reading materials that have helped hundreds of children learn to read. Training to become a literacy superhero will also be provided in the first 30 minutes for new volunteers!
One day every child will be able to read.
Reviews from mission participants (1)
Not without its challenges. It was my first time teaching kids, but the organisers/committee members really did their best in helping me get used to the experience. If you're looking for something that will actually make an impact, this is the mission for you. Did not regret signing up, and hoping to make this a permanent way to spend my Saturdays. Would like for there to be more opportunities for fellow volunteers.
