Mission Description

To educate the locals and tourists on sustainable living & travelling practices

The Perhentian Eco-Education Project aims to educate the local community of Perhentian islands on sustainable living and tourists at the heavily visited islands on responsible travelling to ensure the preservation and good health of the environment and the lives on the island. The project is deeply involved with the local community in the village and is very concerned with the community's living practices and how the tourism economy impacts their lives and environment.

The project also focuses on educating its Eco Club members in hopes to produce the island's own future Eco-leaders. Based on Dr. Jane Goodall's Roots & Shoots programme, the Eco Club held classes and club activities in order to improve the English level of the local kids and also to educate them on the environment and the various marine lives on the island and how to protect them.

Join the Eco Club members on their weekly Kayak Patrol as they ensure the waters surrounding their village is clean from plastics and trash and on their Coral Watch as they snorkel to assess the health of the corals that they are in charge of protecting. Plan activities for their lessons and execute them during Eco classes!

We invite visitors to come and experience Perhentian islands like no other way. Live and eat like the locals, learn from the children of the Perhentian islands about their environment and the underwater world and get involved with the local community.

Sign up and spend a week with us (or more) to experience a life in conservation where the focus is on the ones that can make a difference - the people and the islands' future generation.
