Mission Description

Be A Child Advocate and learn from the best activists in Malaysia

Hi, friends!

THE ORGANISER:

MAU, short for Monsters Among Us: Youth Advocates, is a youth non-governmental organisation, based in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, that focuses on combating the issue of child sexual abuse through advocacy and campaigns as well as by providing platforms for community involvement to join the cause. We thank our main supporters, Epic & UNICEF for making this happen!

THE BOOTCAMP:

Child Advocacy Bootcamp by MAU is a series of online workshops for a span of 3 weeks in December 2020.

The featured topics are:-

  • child sexual abuse;
  • understanding gender equality;
  • youth activism and;

You will also execute your very own online forum with the help of MAU to mark the final assessment as our child advocate!

Mission Impact

Our goal is to pave safer childhoods for Malaysia.

And our mission is to develop young advocates to pave the way!

MAU believes in developing and platforming the youth to advocate for their own issues, especially ensuring that children in Malaysia have access to understanding their rights. Child sexual abuse has been a monster under the bed for as long as we can remember and 1 out of 10 children in Malaysia, which amounted to 750,000 of them, have been sexually abused in 2017.

It is time for children to be champions of their own cause!
