Mission Description

The 2018 SHINE Award Programme is an enhanced version focusing on the intentional advancement and delivery of Life Skills into the curriculum. It is a self-directed experiential learning journey for students. The Life Skills modules has been integrated within the Taylor’s University Curriculum Framework (TCF). These modules are the University’s Core Module or also known as the MPU (Mata Pelajaran Pengajian Umum). All First Year Undergraduate students will experience these modules which emphasizes on experiential learning as Taylor’s believe that “Life Skills are caught, and not taught”. These Life Skills modules will offer a glimpse of SHINE Award Programme. These exposure provides you a foundation that covers Personal and Social Competencies.


To experience Life Skills further, you can partake in SHINE Award Programme for experiential opportunities from your next semester onwards. Students will be given the opportunity to customize your own SHINE Learning Journey according to your own individual development needs. You can choose to start your journey from the Learning Packages below:
Learning Package 1: Personal Development – Involvement in at least 30 hours of voluntary activities
Learning Package 2: People and Leadership – Lead or manage signature project, 1 year commitment in student organization or demonstrate a leadership role
Learning Package 3: Professional Development – Involvement in networking events, part-time work experience, startup own business, internship placement
Learning Package 4: Global Engagement – Involvement in any global engagement activities, study abroad or conferences

Students are still required to complete the compulsory two core-empowerment series; iLEAD and Distinguish Speaker Series. All students involvement will be attested in the 2nd Transcript and SHINE Award will be awarded ONLY for those who meets the award criteria.
