Mission Description

Volunteer to be part of sea turtle conservation work

Be a Penyu Warrior

Join our team and be a Penyu Warrior! The Perhentian Turtle Project is based in the beautiful Perhentian Islands. Split between the Fishermen's village (Kampung Nelayan) and the nesting beach, volunteers would be aiding the team in their daily tasks. Volunteers will join the team to do kayak surveys i.e kayaking and free diving when a turtle is sighted to take photo ID of their faces, join the team at night to guard nesting sea turtles under the stars at the nesting beach and analyze the photo ID to identify the individual sighted. When new turtles are discovered, you get to name your new turtle!

Volunteers will also be helping the team to educate tourists and locals alike during awareness talks that are held every week at resorts or local dive shops. Education is a huge part of conservation. We are all in this together! Furthermore, volunteers will also be involved in our weekly beach cleans that is done to ensure that trash does not end up in the stomach of marine lives.
